Scheduled Server Outage

The end of security updates for Windows XP is near, so I have ordered Windows 7 for all my machines, which includes the CGS game server. We will probably do the change this weekend. Arma II Free and Arma II OA should be fine, however it remains to be seen if OFP will work.

The change may take a day or two, as the games will have to be reinstalled "from scratch" then the missions ported over.

We have begun the processs of upgrading our servers to Windows 7. OFP and ArmA II OA have been shut down. We will shut down ArmA II Free after the last player logs out. We hope to have the work finished and all servers up and running by Friday Evening Eastern Daylght Time.

OFP and ArmA II Free are back up, running under Linux. I decided to give Windows a toss. i'll use the Windows 7 install disks for work where they "must" have Windows. ArmA II OA CO had pretty serious corruption that went back a ways, the backups where bad too. It did not get as much play as our other two games, so that will be a low priority.

The game stats were also a mess, so i decided it was time to start fresh. Four years was a pretty good run for a Windows box.

To do: Fix the rank icons and a timing issue that makes lt look like the servers are down when they are actually running. This may have to wait. In the meantime, enjoy OFP and ArmA II Free.
